09/14/2006: Possible problem with iTeXMac version 1.4 when upgrading the system. I have been reported by F. Dorra that iTeXMac v 1.4 MAY not survive some system upgrade (Mac OS X 10.4.5 or more). It may happen that the editor window never gets the focus, such that it is impossible to enter text (I personnaly got this problem in XCode with earlier systems..). He reported that a possible cause is the new Java virtual machine (version 5.0), and a possible workaround is to downgrade this virtual machine (to version 1.2) following apple's instructions. However, some people reported that they did not have such a problem, another mystery..

pdfsync has been updated, there are problems however with amscd, xy and warmread, tabular and chapter.
It seems that writing good pdfsync macros for ConTeXt is hard. Before Hans Hagen can have a very serious look at it you will find my ConTeXt version of pdfsync.sty in the distribution. There is also something for LaTeX and Plain of course.
In this intermediate release, there is a sensible gain in performance.
Don't throw away the previous version, problems on sourceforge server could cause unexpected troubles in iTeXMac.

- Panther comes out today. Unfortunately, iTeXMac does not like Panther. I have fixed some bugs but I could not post an updated version (I hope this is just because I am still using Project Builder instead of XCode..).
The first problem concerns the symbols drawer, where symbols are not displayed at the right location. You can fix the problem issuing in the terminal the following command:
defaults write comp.text.tex.iTeXMac iTMSymbolMenuBug -bool YES
The second problem is more important: you can't see the output when compiling or typesetting. This is due to an old bug that was harmless until today. You must deselect the syntax coloring of the log in the appropriate preference pane.
I am sorry not to release the latest version, but consider that I am also very frustrated..
By the way, here are some forthcoming features: Navigation from source to pdf (sort of synchronization), support for Tom Kiffe's MacDviX, synchronization with alphaX. Cool spelling support for iTM 2.0, and so on..
- iTeXMac(Key) 0.3 is out. See the download. A button has been added to help in configuring the function keys.

- A new development policy with a new versioning system come out today:
User releases are numbered 'major.minor'. The minor number is increased as soon as a set of working new features is added, without breaking backwards compatibility. The major version number changes each time there is a break in the backward compatibility. Developper realeases are now numbered 'major.minor-build'. The build version number changes alone until the result is eligible to become a full 'major.minor' or 'major+1.0' version
- A new list named itexmac-CVS-news has been created to keep track of my management of the cvs tree. It will be available within a few hours according to source forge services. This will help the management and the consulting (CVS integration in Project Builder is..:(, maybe in XCode it will be :)
- Next feature: a new shell script design (already available for a tiny while in version 1.3-GM+ but forwarded to 2.0.0) coming with a new UI design for projects, then better support of spell checking.
09/12/2003:
- Bad news: iTeXMac 1.3 GM is buggy. I fixed a problem related to the PDF viewer, but iTM still does not typeset anymore. I removed the files from sourceforge. Some mirrors will propose it however.
- I will try to update this site more frequently, as soon as I work on iTeXMac more than an hour..
- To fix the bug above, I am currently implementing a new shell script management. Problems with spaces in paths solved.

Ow to cod waw for mac windows free. MiKTeX for Mac is distributed as a disk image (.dmg
) file. If you double click the disk image file, you will see a Finder window:
To install MiKTeX, simply drag the MiKTeX icon onto the Applications
shortcut icon. This will install the MiKTeX Console
application and essential support files (executables, frameworks, configuration files).
Finishing the setup
Before you can use MiKTeX, you have to finish the setup. Click the MiKTeX Console
icon in Launchpad to start MiKTeX Console:
Now is the time to make a decision:
Do you want to set up a private (for you only) TeX installation, or do you want to set up a shared (system-wide) TeX installation?
You probably want to choose the first option.
The second option makes sense if you are the administrator of a multi-user system. If this is the case and if you expect that some of your users would like to work with MiKTeX, then you should install MiKTeX system-wide.
Click one of the two buttons if you have made your decision.
Upgrade option
If you have just installed MiKTeX, then you have the option to upgrade your installation to a standard TeX system. Just click the Upgrade
button. Please be aware that this starts a ~200MB download.
Alternatively, you can turn on the auto-install feature and let MiKTeX install missing packages on-the-fly. This will help you to keep your TeX installation as minimal as possible (“Just enough TeX”).
Fixing PATH
issues
Executables like luatex
have been installed in ~/bin
. This folder is usually not in the search path for executables, i.e., two additional steps might be necessary:
- Add the
~/bin
directory to the environment variablePATH
(see here, for details). - If you use TeXshop, you have to set some preferences (see here, for details).
Removing MiKTeX
You can remove MiKTeX completely from your system. To do so, open a Terminal window and run these commands:
- run
miktexsetup cleanup
to remove MiKTeX files which have been created in your home directory - if MiKTeX has been installed system-wide, run
sudo miktexsetup --shared=yes cleanup
to remove MiKTeX files which have been created outside your home directory - run
sudo rm -fr /Applications/MiKTeX Console.app
to remove the application files
